The DHS First Responder Partnership Initiative (FRPI) includes emergency personnel from the National Capitol Region (NCR), Maryland and Virginia.
The program will serve as a model for other regions to enhance cooperation and efficiency between federal, state, regional, local, and private sector emergency responders before and during a critical incident. The First Responder Authentication Credential (FRAC) will verify the identities and attributes of the emergency responders and their credentials at the scene of an incident, allowing them to gain access into and out of secured areas and across multi-jurisdictions.
Funding for the Commonwealth of Virginia FRAC Pilot Program is provided by a 2005 Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) sub-grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
